Decommissioned VOR appears on your charts

Andrew May 12, 2019 06:31AM CEST

I'm new to AirNav and still evaluating it - with so much else around it's tough to make a choice. Overall I'm impressed with usability etc. but am concerned that the charts show up a VOR that was decommissioned over 3 years ago. It is in South Africa, which is a supported region, so I was a little surprised. The underlying 500k WAC correctly shows the VOR as no longer there. The VOR is no longer listed in the AIP.

The "guilty" VOR is HBV, which was withdrawn by the CAA on this AIP Supplement:

To be honest this is quite concerning - if a VOR hasn't been corrected in 3 years, what else?

Dear Andrew,

I first apologize for this late response.

We take our aeronautical information from Eurocontrol.

We have done some research and this VOR is still active in the Eurocontrol database. Unfortunately, we do not know the reasons why they are keeping it active.

I'm sincerely sorry I can't tell you more.

I remain at your disposal for any other questions,

Best regards
